how similar or different is theatre from cinema?

How similar or different is theatre from cinema? is a question that raised in my drama class last week. To answer that question, I must know the definition of theatre and cinema first. Theatre means a building in which there is live performance which is mainly meant for entertainment and cinema is a building where films are played which is also mainly meant for entertainment. There are similarities and differences between theatre and cinema.
The similarity that we can find in both of it is that they are meant for entertainment and there is also the script, actors, directors ans set involved which shows similarities.
The differences are that in theatre, we can see the actors perform in front of us live whereas in cinemas, we cannot see the actors perform in front of us; there is just images of them in the film. so in my opinion, i guess there is more talent involved in theatre performance as a small mistake can be obvious to audience. Less talent involved in films because actors can make as much mistakes as they can as the mistakes can be edited later. The usage of technology in theatre is still minimal level compared to films; usage of technology in films are limitless.
Talking about the technology usage in theatre rises the question : is theatre out-of-date? in my opinion, theatre is not out-of-date as new technologies are being used in theatres nowadays. i believe that theatre in recent time is not the same with how theatre used to be. There are lots of improvements in terms of the usage of speakers and microphones.
